Description

This is a substantial sized four draw brass telescope signed, ‘J.H. Dallmeyer, London’  quite large and heavy measuring 13″ closed and 43.5″ open. It has 2.25″ objective. Complete with lens cap, sliding sun visor and dust slider to the eyepiece, it also has a removable pancratic eyepiece (a 5th draw tube). It gives a pristine sharp image when viewed and retains all original lacquer and would appear to have hardly been used. Contained in original strong card case.

John Henry Dallmeyer is recorded as only working in 1851 (though one site on the internet states 1850).

Scientific Inspirations

I live in Lancashire (U.K.) and have been a dealer and collector of scientific and nautical instruments for a number of years. My stock has included some fine items from museums and colleges, which were surplus to their requirements. I occasionally purchase some interesting items from abroad, having established some reliable sources.
