A very good and nice example of 19cm diameter simple theodolite in brass, called in French “cercle entier” or “cercle hollandais”, and signed by one the most important French instrument maker from the early 17th century, Pierre Lemaire elder.

The instrument is superbly signed “Le Maire à la Pierre d’aiman a Paris” and finely decorated with some geometrical and floral parterns.

The balljoint is present and the instrument has a nice patina.
