Description

An excellent example of a gilt brass ans silver classic Augsburger equinoctial sundial signed by Andreas Vogler.

The dial is preserverd in its original leather case lined with blue silk and comes with its original booklet with the list of cities and their lattitude (the case is fragile but not restored).

 

The octogonal base is in gilt brass, very nicely cutted and well engraved with flowers and geometrical patterns. The silver compass is engraved with four cardinal points.

The hour ring is in silver engraved with the Roman numbers I-IX and III-XII, with a slivered pointer. The folding latitude arch is also in silver and engraved for 7 to 80 degrees.

 

The back of the compass bears the Volger’s signature and the name of 5 cities Dimensions: 62 mm x 58 mm.

Very good original condition. Rarest in gilt and silver.
