Description

A good example of a brass hexagonal universal equinoctial sundial signed “Bernier Au Niveau à Paris”.

A drypoint compass is embedded in the centre of the plate. The hour dial, nicely engraved, is adjustable in inclination according to the latitude of the place of observation. The degree of latitude is given by an arc, foldable and graduated in degrees from 0° to 80°.

The gnomon, a slim brass rod mounted on a pivot axis, is articulated.

On the up and dow sides are engraved the name of 23 European cities with their latitude.

The dial is of good size : 8,4×8,4 cm
