Description

A fully complete set of drawing/mathematical instruments in brass preserved in its original leather case lined in red velvet. The set is signed on the protractor “Lang à Strasbourg” who is usually considered like the same personn than “John. Phil. Lang, Mechanicien du Roy pour l’artillerie” (see websterdatabase and Marcelin). Lang is active between late 1740s’ and early 1760s’.

Furthermore, Marcelin cites a drawing set in private hands which is certainly the present set in perfect original condition.

Indeed the set preserves all its original instruments : a large pair of dividers with the plain point, a small dividers, a special and fitting part for pencil and a second one for ink, a ruling-pen, a very small dividers with two additionnal fitting parts for pencil and ink, a protractor and a square/rule with “Pied de roy” and “Wien”.

All the instruments are original, there is NO replacement.

Rare in such fine and geniune condition with an unusual French/German signature.
