A single draw silver and shagreen monocular by Dollond.circa 1790,in a velvet lined red leather case.

A non achromatic single draw monocular with a pale green shagreen covered body.In near perfect condition with no defects.The unstopped single draw,cushioned by the original felt lining sleeve,is in plate silver and draws to provide a crisp image.The eyepiece is stamped ‘Dollond,London’.The red Morocco leather case is closed via single button clasp and a single pinned hinge.It is difficult to ascribe this instrument to a single member of the large Dollond family but the pattern and method of construction suggests a date of approximately 1790.
