Description

A very fine example of this famous and popular drum French microscope, invented and called by Lerebours in 1839 under the name “Microscope achromatique simplifié”.

The present example is signed on the microscope “Lerebours et Secrétan à Paris” and the box bears a nice label of Secrétan.

The simplified achromatic microscope is probably the most popular microscope in France around 1840/1850.

The present example is in very fine original condition and has the useful prismatic horizontal accessorie.

It comes with two eyepieces, three achromatic doublets, the double cones for the objective and several accessories : one scalpel, two botanical needles, a elegant tweezers, a square and round liveboxes, a circular plate in ebony and ivory, a round glass plate for chemical observations and a set of 6 Bourgogne slides (one broken but still usable).

Everything preserved in it’s orginal mahogany case.

A superbe example.
