Description

A fine French pied de roi or folding rule with, on one side a scale in French inch, and the other side, a scale a new metric system. So we can date the instrument from the early 19th century, during the transitionnal period between the Ancien Régime measure system and the revolutionnary new metric system.

 

Made from two ivory pieces hinged bu a full solid silver joint, the folding works well.

Small floral decoration o the joint.

Good condition.

Size : 16,8 cm closed / 32,5 opened.
