Description

Geology/thin rock sections mainly by E. Wainwright c. 1920 in box. Although no reference can be found in Bracegirdle, these are professional. numbered (34) mounts of mainly igneous/ metamorphic specimens and are of the highest standard ( see photos). Post-Edwardian in age, mounted in balsam?, numbered but not dated, there were obviously over 400 specimens at one time. An obscure reference to an Edwin Wainwright (1908-1998) of Dearne Valley, UK  indicates a mining interest early in life with a penchant for politics ( disgraced) later in life. Case with bakelite/celluloid retail label for Benn Franks Ltd. c.1915, ( one broken hinge) and paper label affixed to the lid. 6 x 6 (36) slides in total. Nice collection of rock sections from various UK and European locales.
