Description

A Dutch compass in mahogany case. The box got a label with the text: “De gouden bril – Hilversum – J.H. Smit-Duyzentkunst – Opticien – Kerkstraat 67”. There is no makers name on the compass and has an integral needle lock on the side of the brass Compass. Dial has been inscribed in flowing script ‘N – NO – O – ZO – Z – ZW – W – NW with an arrow with the point to north. There is also a scale with 360 degrees. Compass shows some darkened age spots, On the back you see a less oxidation incase of the green velvet on the bottom of the box. Measurements box 15 x 15 x 3cm and in good working condition.
