An exceptionally nice equinoctial compass sundial in case, signed on the chapter ring: ‘Newton & Co., 3 Fleet Street, London’, with sprung gnonom bar, latitude bar, silvered dial with 8 cardinal compass points, engraved to the outside in four quadrants 0 – 90 – 0 – 90 etc, bubble level, cross – bubble, supported on three adjustable levelling screws. The mahogany case ( 4.5″ x 4.5″ ) with blue felt lining, almanac chart and two hooks & eyes. Remarkable condition.

Circa 1852 – 1856.
