Description

A 9″ (23 cm.) brass bound mahogany inclinometer/level on heavy steel base with vertical and horizontal (green) bubble levels and simple pinhole sight with cross hairs. Adjusts to 20 degrees by leaf spring below and diagonally knurled/roped brass nut on steel screw. All contained in it’s original stepped tin box measuring 10 x 3 x 2″ (25 x 8 x 5 cm). Plane table surveying or possible gunnery applications for the field. Very fine overall condition. Late 18th century. Unsigned.
