John Browning microscope, circa 1885 serial number 554,
similar designs also made by Swift & Son, after the original 1867 Mogine design made by Charles Baker.

The folding tripod design with one leg serving as the limb.
Coarse focus is by sliding the optical tube, and there is a fine focus through the tube foot, controlled from the top by fine screw and acting on the stage.
The plane mirror can slide up and down the tube foot.
It folds to fit in the leather covered green velvet lined case.
In very good condition and working order, the mirror spotted and not original.
The box perhaps not original (a little large)
Length of microscope packed 6,3/8″ or 160mm.
