Offered for Sale is a very Fine, Antique,  large, Dark Green, Anodized Brass, Aneroid Barometer.     It is substantial, with an o/a diameter of 5 inches, and a glass fronted face of 4-1/4 inch diameter.    The o/a depth is 2 inches.  The  inner aspect of the white enamelled face, has a diameter of  2-3/4 inches, and is clearly marked to the upper aspect ."Surveying Aneroid/Compensated/1412", and to the lower aspect.."CARY/7 Pall Mall/London".  The Outer peripheral aspect is in 3 parts, the inner graduated  26 inches to 31 inches, the middle aspect  0 - 5000 feet. Complete with it's original close fitted leather carrying case.

Offered for Sale is a very Fine, Antique,  large, Dark Green, Anodized Brass, Aneroid Barometer.     It is substantial, with an o/a diameter of 5 inches, and a glass fronted face of 4-1/4 inch diameter.    The o/a depth is 2 inches.  The  inner aspect of the white enamelled face, has a diameter of  2-3/4 inches, and is clearly marked to the upper aspect .“Surveying Aneroid/Compensated/1412“, and to the lower aspect..”CARY/7 Pall Mall/London”.  The Outer peripheral aspect is in 3 parts, the inner graduated  26 inches to 31 inches, the middle aspect  0 – 5000 feet, and the outer aspect  freely rotates, controlled  by a knurled edged brass screw, situated to the Top and Side of the body.   This outer aspect is blank, except for the word “Ascent” and a segment of graduations, numbered 0 -5-10.. Also, situated to the top aspect of the body, is a swivelling magnifier , fitted to a brass pillar.  The o/a condition is excellent, with a fine smooth anodised green finish, with minor marks to it’s base.       The glass cover is intact and clear, and there is a fine, central indicating needle. To the base, there are 2 small access holes, for adjusting the needle and the outer segment.  Complete with it’s original close fitted, leather carrying case, in excellent condition, intact stitching, tabs, buckle, and shoulder sling. C1870-80

I have been interested in scientific instruments since my grammar school days in the 1950s then university at Guys Hospital, London, where I qualified in 1961, and then working as a Dental Surgeon, until retirement from that profession, in 2004.. My antiques business was set up 45 years ago, having followed in the footsteps of my father. Throughout this time I have dealt in scientific instruments, mainly of a military connection. This includes military instruments, microscopes, compasses, Nauticalia, Telescopes, large and small, Binoculars, especially of the German and British Naval forces of the 2nd WW, general optical items and even writing cases.

I attend the Science Fair in,London, and other Antique Fairs, especially the IACF Fairs, at Ardingly, West Sussex, The "Military Odyssey" at Detling, Kent, and occasionaly,the Bisley Fairs, and Birmingham, at the NMM.
