Description

A magnificent anonymous example of a French calligraphy work done as a thank you, here in the extravagant form of a peacock whose tail plumage and ocelli or “eyes” are represented with innumerable swirls of brown ink.

The paper animal is dedicated “à Monsieur de Matha, une éternelle Reconnesensse [sic !]” [sic] and dated “1843”.

 The calligraphy work measures 15.5×17.5 cm ; the sheet 36×24 cm .

Good condition.
