Illustrated with 11 plates and upward of 300 wood engravings. London: H Bailliere Publisher 219 Regent St. 1855. The 3rd edition of this important work is in many respects more interesting and useful than the 1st edition. It has 60 more engravings, and the sections on microscopes and accessories is greatly expanded to include the best examples from continental Europe. This is a very attractive full calf presentation copy, Middlesex School of Medicine Prize for Practical Chemistry for 1855-6. Xxvi, 551pp with 302 engravings, 11plates. Condition very good, leather just starting to split at top of spine, foxing and spotting to last few plates.
