Description

A very nice 7 inch presentation Star Globe by H. Hughes & Son Ltd.,  London, also known as a Husun Star Globe, dated 1920. The globe sits in its felt lined case with lacquered brass meridian, engraved, ‘The Paget Star Globe. H. Hughes & Son Ltd., London. No 1225’. The lid is fully detachable with locating dowels and locking hooks to the sides.

The instrument and case are in remarkable, well kept condition. The globe is free of crazing / cracking.

The presentation plaque to the lid reads;

The Incorporated Thames Nautical Training College.
H.M.S. Worcester.
Port of London.
1st Nautical & Mathematical Class.
Second Prize To Head Boy in Practical Navigation. Awarded to
J.C.N. SHRUBSOLE.
Midsummer 1932
 
Ltd. Cdr. J.C.N. Shrubsole (RN) was later awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for outstanding courage in operations against the Japanese in July / August 1945.
