Description

A brass  dry card prismatic compass by Cary of London. The highly decoratively engraved green card is in mirror image, corrected by sighting through the prism, which has a protective brass cover. The sighting vane has a replacement wire. The card is dampened for transit by way of a lever on the side of the case, and when in use, depressing a further button at the base of the vane locks the card temporarily to take the reading. It has a turned brass cover and a suspension ring. The case which has possibly been refurbished,is lined with green velvet and covered in dark green leather with line tooling, and is closed with two brass hooks and eyes and a single pinned brass hinge.
