Description

USED ENGLISH QUINTANT, PROBABLY WENT THROUGH INSTRUMENT MAKERS WORKSHOP 100 YEARS AGO WHEN A REPLACEMENT HORIZON MIRROR, VERNIER READER & A WIDE ANGLE TELESCOPE WERE REPLACED/FITTED. THE SILVER SCALE IS EXTREMELY GOOD ALTHOUGH THE NAME HAS ALMOST BEEN LOST, I THINK IT’S THOMAS JONES CHARRING CROSS LONDON. THE SILVER SCALE IS DIVIDED IN TEN MINUTE DIVISIONS WITH VERNIER READING TO 10 SECONDS OF ARC. THE SILVER SCALE READS MINUS 10 DEGREES TO 169 DEGREES READING TO 142 DEGREES. RADIUS 8″INCHES. ALTHOUGH HAVING ALTERATIONS THIS IS STILL A REASONABLE EXAMPLE OF THE FAMOUS DOUBLE FRAME SEXTANT, ORIGINAL MAHOGANY KEYSTONE BOX. Contact Email: m.jread@btinternet.com
