Description

This particular instrument called “conformateur ” was used to detect the head shape to build a tailored hat. The smallest tool used to bring the shape back to the hat’s construction. This Conformateur model of fully-constructed ebony  has mother-of-pearl details as a sign of a more “luxurious” destination. The smallest conformator is much rarer to find and without which the two instruments can not be used. The conformator, for its particular shape, has become an icon of crafts instruments of the 19th century.  Signed  ” Maillard “
