The quite rare and important book of the Gertrude Hamilton’s sale catalogue of early dialing and timekeeping instruments published in 1929.

The “collection Mercator” includes 164 rare and early sundial, rings dial, nocturnal, etc.

The name Collection Mercator is given to this collection because Gertrude Hamilton was established in Paris at the sign of Mercator.

All instrument are well described with their dimension and 19 are illustrated with photographic reproductions printed on 8 plates of strong paper.

Rare catalogue of 164 timekeeping and dialing instruments described et sold by Gertrude Hamilton in Paris, rue du Colisée, à l’enseigne de Mercator in 1929. 

A very rare complete example with the 8 illustrated plates, not bound, given the photographic illustration of  23 dials described in the present catalogue. 

At the end, the list of the most famous instrument maker of sundials “publiée avec la permission de R. T. Gunther, auteur de Early Sience in Oxford”. 

The books was printed at only 300 copies, the present one bears the number 263.

A fine copy in genuine condition.
