A fabulous camera lucida of Italian origin. A combination of bright, anodized and browned brass, this instrument can be clamped to a tabletop or it can be used in the field by employing the enclosed pillar. This rod screws into the top of the closed box, and fits into the C-clamp hole. In this way the instrument can be used horizontally as well as vertically. I have never seen another of this form in 30 years. Rarely used, it has no defects on the stand or prism (folding magnifier and smoked glass sun shade). The prism is an oversized 30 x 30 mm., the arm extends to 600 mm. and the height on the box is 200 mm. The adapter pin in the center of the case(40 mm. long) appears to be a recent replacement but the threads and stem are a tight fit and it is not seen when the hollow vertical rod slides over it. The black card case has some paper losses but these do not detract from the quality and beauty of this unusual instrument. The case measures 260 x 80 x 30 mm. deep. |
