Description

This is the most sophisticated form of surveying cross, which is effectively a simple azimuth theodolite.  the cylnder is diided in two, the lower half rotated by a thumbwheel, it has sights allowing any angle to be set off with the silver scale divided in degrees.  A vernier gives readings to one arcminute (but I think this is optimistic).  The compass with jewelled bearing is  also divided in degrees. Condition is good, noting lower sight wire missing, some small dents to the brass (shown in detail in one photo), and the compass needle lock does not function properly. Ganymede Stock No. 35-3740c.
