| This patented compass/clinometer is designed and made by Barker. Raising the sights releases the compass. Puling out the knob releases the clinometer dial over the compass dial. Marked: Barkers patent No. 1926 (Serial No.) 3398, F Barker and Son, Scientific Instrument Makers, 12 Clerkenwell Rd, London. Beneath it has the triangular “Trade Mark London” stamp. The compass ring is aluminium, and probably also the clinometer dial. Overall condition is good, with some wear. The instrument is fully functional. It would originally have had a black finish to the brass body, but this has been polished back to the brass at some time in the past. Complete with original pigskin case. Ganymede Stock No. 35-3748 |
