Free-standing demonstration gyroscope constructed entirely in brass and signed “Elliott Bro[ther]s / 30 Strand / London”, being datable to around 1860 as the Elliott brothers appear to have moved to 449 Strand in the early 1860s.

The gyroscope is in perfect working and aesthetic condition retaining much of its original varnish.

The circle and the central disc turns perfectly.

The instrument measures 22.5 cm in height by 12.5 cm in diameter.
