A CHEST MICROSCOPE, ENGLISH, LATE 18th CENTURY
Unsigned, the foot of the brass microscope is fixed to a rectangular wooden chest with a compass joint supporting a squared pillar with original projecting mirror (some scratches) on an adjustable arm and three-winged Cuff-style stage with a bracket which can slide over the squared pillar with fine focus to the side controlled by a long vertical screw, the pillar terminating in a brass bar with ring to carry the body tube. It is contained within a fitted mahogany case with blue velvet lined interior with accessories including 6 numbered objectives, lieberkuhn mirror, additional side lens, and other.
Original laquer 70% preserved (some scratches on the body tube).
