A DOLLOND PORTABLE TELESCOPE ca 1780
A nice small brass portable telescope by Dollond made around 1780.
The telescope forms a compact cylinder 1 5/8″ (4 cm) in diameter and 4 3/4″ (12 cm) long, with the pillar and tripod stand cleverly stowed inside the main tube for transportation. Height is about 6″ (15cm).
It has a quadruple power eyepiece (marked 1-4) and give clear images. It also has the original brass cover to the objective.
It has a red filter placed inside the eyepiece to allow solar vision. VERY RARE.
Very fine condition, please note a little rubbing on the red-leather cover of the main tube.
