A rare large model stand I Zeiss microcope, with the serial number “8672”, so datable from the year 1885, and preserved in a exceptionnaly large and luxuous wooden box.
The microcope istelf is in fine and perfect working condition.
It comes with 5 eyepieces numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 orthoskop and 5 and 3 objectives : one A numbered “899” or “3899” [not sure], one F numbered “177” and one A* numbered “441”. The three have their original cases.
The set also preserved as accessories a very fine and elegant Abbe condenser with its specific mirror, a camera lucida and a triple revolver.
The box bears the label of the Belgian retailer of scientific instruments “Robert Drosten Bruxelles Appareil scientifique et technique magasin de microscopie”. According with the Zeiss archive, Robert Drosten is the first and direct buyer of this Zeiss microscope in 1885 from the Zeiss firm.
Even if several accessories are now lacking in the original box, the microscope is still a superb example of stand I Zeiss microscope and in a rare very luxuous and large box (measuring 48×28,5×15,7 cm).
