Large Butterfield-type dial for the latitude of 49° (Paris) and 50°

On the back, a list of 20 different localities, mostly in France but also Costantinople, Venise and Hamburg, Wien and Madrid.

 

An attractive dial, in silver, all original.

Gilbert is a scarcely known instrument maker; Marcelin (ad vocem) list only a dial by him (Christie)
