Dimension: 9,3cm (open), 7cm (close); diam 3,7cm

Pink-shagreen covered outer tube, burgundy vellum with dry tooling inner tube.

Stained ivory mounts and silver outer ring.

Optically sound.

 

A carefully made monocular by John Gilbert of London. Gilbert was active from 1751 and died in 1791. He manufactured a wide variety of optical instruments.
