A very unusual brass and steel folding ruler signed “C. Mollemont” [an unique signature or a owner’s handcrafted signature] which composes a true little pocker compendium :

-Folding ruler with old French inches and a modern metric scale ;

-A pair of beam compass with two adjustables points ;

-An additionnal “equal parts” scale for simple surveying or calculating use ;



Even is the engraving is handcrafet, the steel parts are superbly constructed with bird-shape and the brass is of excellent quality. Futhermore, the system of double hinge is also more complex than usual ruler or sector.

The folding ruler and all its accessories can be stored in a leather personnal case.

The presence of old French inche and now metric scale allow to date the instrument between 1800 and 1820.
