Description
Small portable meridian circle with meridian or astronomical telescope.
The instrument is not signed but datable between 1880 and 1910, probably of French or German.
The telescope with rack and pinion focusing is mounted on a trunnion and flanked by a vertical degree circle with bubble level on strut stand with circular base raised on three levelling screws. On ene micrometric screw on the large horizontal circle has a part missing.
Rare portable astronomy instrument.
The two divided circles measure approximately 17cm in diameter; the instrument 40cm in height and the telescope between 30-34cm in length.
