Description

A rare small case for drawing/mathematical instruments measuring a quarter of a French foot and signed by Butterfield in Paris so datable around 1700.

The etui preserves :

-The small brass sector signed Butterfield à Paris ;

-The folding quart de pied de roy forming square and plimb and also signed Butterfield à Paris;

-The brass half-circle protractor signed “Butterfield à Paris” and a horn protractor of same size, unsigned ;

-its original unsigned brass ruler ;

-a small dividers which is not original;

-an original point for ink;

-and a second ink point which is apparently not original.

All the instruments which have to be signed are well preserved and original for this set of a very rare diminutive size.

The case measures 10×6.7×2.5cm ; the sector 8.9 cm closed.

PS: the last picture shows a sector of usual size which is not for sale.
