Description

All American microscope slide collection c.1880-1920 consisting of exactly 100 examples by top makers with labels intact and in generally excellent condition. Subject matter includes botany, zoology, whole insects and insect parts, minerology, geology, marine and anatomy. 45 makers represented, mostly from NY or NJ. Very few retailed by microscope makers (after market). These are some of the best examples by top slide makers in the US. Some slides are obviously worth more than others but I have set the average slide price at $15 per example. A choice of buying them loose (on trays) or cased in pine, walnut or mahogany boxes (latter holds ~90 slides and is $250 more). A finer collection you will not see for quite some time. Makers include Day, Julien, Carter, Bagley (gold), Atwood, Booth, Mallonee, Woodman, Rakestraw, Van Brunt, Gowan, Hall, Walker, Timmins, Shultz, Zabriskie, Hyatt and Green ( as well as 20 one off examples).
