A quite early example, unsigned, of this unusual double dental elevator, called by Garengeot “repoussoir” but more generally called “pied de biche” ans used for roots.
“The upper branch was intended to displace roots, the lower to raise the roots to the outside” (Bennion, page 41).
The present example is of great quality with an handle made in dark brown and hard wood and not in ebony.
The instrument measures 13,3 cm lenght.
Despite one crack on the handle, excellent and genuine condition.
