An excellent example in prisitine condition of an early pre-achromatic English three-draw telescope bearing the very rare signature “Mann and Ayscough London”.
James Mann and James Ayscough were in partnership between 1743 and 1747, so we can date this telescope circa 1745.
It is made in cardboard covered with red vellum and with/red galuchat. The lenses are mounted in brass.
The telescope measures 23,8 cm closed and 66,5 cm elongated.
The optics works very well.
