Description
A quite early model of a split-lens micrometer telescope signed “Putois Rochette à Paris Quai de l’horloge” so datable circa 1815.
The split-lens micrometer is a heliometer invented by Peter Dolond around 1754 for measuring the diameter of the sun.
We can find some early or 18th century split-lens micrometer eyepiece but entire telescopes are rarest. The French one are also quite rare.
The present one is mounted on a fine stand with micrometric screw, level.
It is in good working condition preserved in its original wooden case.
The telescope measures 58,5cm lenght.
