Antique set of twelve glass cups presented in a sturdy wooden case. The ancient practice of cupping sees the cups heated and then applied to the skin of the patient. As the cup cools, a vacuum is created and the area to be treated is gently drawn into the cup. This therapy was commonly used to treat a broad range of conditions including blood disorders, rheumatic pain, fertility and skin conditions as well as to help with general physical and psychological well being. The Cups are all in good condition although the case has damage to the rear. Inside is a makers plate bearing the name Paul Astic of Paris.
