This is an antique stick barometer. An English, mahogany barometer by renowned maker Charles Howarth of Halifax and dating to the early Victorian period, circa 1850.

 ~ Select cuts of mahogany and boxwood inlay displays a desirable aged patina

 ~ Good consistent colour throughout and fine grain interest

 ~ Original papered scale in good order

 ~ Marked as ‘Charles – Halifax – Howarth’

 ~ Conditions annotated in large print, with graduated scale alongside the mercury tube

 ~ A long range temperature scale measures in Fahrenheit

 ~ Scale resides behind a glass door, fastened with latch

 ~ Mercury reserve behind an oval cistern cover
