Astronomical compendium in gilt and silver brass and silver signed
Thobias Volkmer [in Munich] and dated 1641
It is composed of a geometric quadrant with movable alidade decorated with fruits and mascarons, an horizontal sundial set for 48° North latitude – ie. that of Munich where Volkmer was based -, a compass with a wind rose, two sides without engraving, and a geometric square.
A similar compendium is preserved in Cambridge.
The instrument measures 95x95x30 mm closed.
