Description

Brass, steel, green leather and lacquered wood microscope in its original wood and leather case.

The tube of the microscope in brass covered with a gilded leather with small irons bearing an objective and an eyepiece (interchangeable objective). The whole is fixed on a square section steel rod equipped with a brass adjustment screw and a sample holder made of three brass discs, one of which is openwork.

The whole is fixed on a brass disc resting on a wooden base lacquered equipped with a mobile mirror and a drawer. The base in green and gold lacquer decorated with leaves and scrolls. The drawer contains four brass eyepieces and a steel scalpel with an ebony handle.

The wooden case covered with gilded leather with blue silk interior decorated with golden brocade braids. The hinged door is stamped on the outside with the following inscriptions : “H. I. S / ALEPO / M / I.D.H / EXECVTOR / F / NORIBRGE / ANNO

NORIBRGE / ANNO / 1740 “, all surrounded by a golden frieze.
