Offered for sale is a fine and complete set of Severn Day Gentleman's "Cut Throat\" Shaving Razors, by Osborn & Sons. Consisting of 7 individual razors, signed Monday through to Sunday, contained in their original, and fitted, Burr Walnut Case. In very good and complete condition. C1890

Offered for sale is a fine and complete set of late 19th Century Seven Day Gentleman’s “Cut Throat” Shaving Razors. All 7 Razors have a Nickle plated blade, measuring 4-1/2 inches to the pivot point. The blades are sharp and undamaged, to a bright shiny finish, and individually have a day of the week etched to the top, blunt edge …. “Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday”, with etched scrolling. There is ribbing towards the pivot end, to aid grip. Each blade is safely closed in it’s fine, off white, 2 piece, bone casing, when not in use. All of the bone is undamaged. Please note that due to damp, when closed after use, there is some evidence of corrosion to the metal work at the pivot… this is to be expected after 125 years of use. Please note that close up photos do make this look much worse than is the case at normal size. All contained in a very fine Burr Walnut Case, with a hinged lid, brass inlaid strips to the ends/corners. The wood is in great and fine condition, with no splits or cracks. There is an inlaid brass escutcheon to the lid. The original lock and key is in working order. The 7 razors are neatly fitted to a silk lined interior. Each Razor is stamped near to the pivot point “Osborn & Sons”. Case Measures…. 7inches X 3-1/8 inches X 1-5/8 inches

I have been interested in scientific instruments since my grammar school days in the 1950s then university at Guys Hospital, London, where I qualified in 1961, and then working as a Dental Surgeon, until retirement from that profession, in 2004.. My antiques business was set up 45 years ago, having followed in the footsteps of my father. Throughout this time I have dealt in scientific instruments, mainly of a military connection. This includes military instruments, microscopes, compasses, Nauticalia, Telescopes, large and small, Binoculars, especially of the German and British Naval forces of the 2nd WW, general optical items and even writing cases.
I attend the Science Fair in,London, and other Antique Fairs, especially the IACF Fairs, at Ardingly, West Sussex, The "Military Odyssey" at Detling, Kent, and occasionaly,the Bisley Fairs, and Birmingham, at the NMM.
