Description

Double frame or pillar frame sextant, signed on the arc, ‘Troughton’ London’ and numbered 1138 on the vertical ‘T’ frame, the scale reading from -5 to 150. All shades are intact and damage free, the mirrors are quite good.

No dents or cracks; the arm swings across smoothly.

The case holds 3 telescopes and an additional inner sleeve, mirror key and two eye-piece sun filters.

Edward Troughton worked 1804 – 1826.
