THE SIGHTING VANES ARE NOT ORIGINAL BUT I MUST SAY THE ENGINEERING IS EXTREEMLY COMPETENT & MUST HAVE BEEN VERY EXPENSIVE TO CONSTRUCT TO SUCH A HIGH STANDARD. COMPASS 5.3/4" DIAMETER. THERE WERE TWO SAMUEL SAUNDERS WORKING IN LONDON IN THE 18TH CENTURY, I BELIEVE THIS WAS MADE BY THE EARLIER INSTRUMENT MAKER WORKING 1708-1743.
