An exceptionally rare simple flea microscope in cylindrical ebony case. Finely and well thought out engineering of a common design, this one off ? ivory/bone single lens model has the ability to rotate and adjust for focal length by a slotted arm. Unlike it’s predecessors of acorn design, this larger model can rotate and adjust for size and angle of the object to be viewed. Perfect optics (although impossible to show clearly by photo), it has a baluster-type turned stem, slotted and brass pinned arm bracket and steel specimen pin. The turned and threaded ebony base has a stable crack on one side and fits smoothly into it’s cylindrical, protective cap. Over sized and finely engineered, it is the only example I can find in any collection. 2 3/4″ in height and 1 1/2″ in diameter.
