A fabulous and well preserved 100 mm. diameter magnifying glass with ebonized wooden handle and original slip cover. Probably French, perfect biconcave lens surrounded by a lacquered brass frame (having one small area of deformation-see photo). Fluted wooden, ebonized handle shows minor edge areas of wear and is 200 mm. long. Threaded brass ferrule to brass frame, steel split screw. The faux leather slip cover is silk lined and exhibits a star burst pattern of six Fleur-de-Lis. Remarkable condition for it’s age. c.1900. Magnification is at least 3X. A real desktop gem.
