A near perfect, large format gallery glass/library reader, engine turned mahogany frame (flawless, 2 cm. thick) with powerful biconvex lens. The main lens has very minor abbrations (does NOT affect images) inside of a wonderful framework measuring a full 16 cm. in diameter. The handle is beautifully turned and chamfered/beveled to control rotation in the palm, while viewing (clever). Perfectly balanced and proportioned, the handle is fixed to the brass support bracket on the frame by two steel screws. The handle is also 16 cm. long for a total length of 32 cm. ( 15 inches). Estimated magnification is 5-10x with a focal length of 30 cm. and 2 cm. depth. A classic Victorian reading/viewing aid of pleasing proportions and form.
