A fine 2 1/2″ prismatic compass with patent green card compass dial by J. Pallant, 44 Museum Street , Bloomsbury. c.1865.

Bearing 99% original lacquer and rarely used, this leather cased instrument has the owner’s name (W.C. RAND) inside the lid of the leather pouch (with strap) and exhibits the best technology of the time. Folding prism with filter, green card compass dial divided into single degree measures totaling 360 , dial stop and single alidade with sighting hair intact. Signed, with full address used for only for 6 years, a better example would be hard to find. Museum quality !!!
