Description

A fine, untouched cased pair of Martin’s margin wig spectacles in steel and horn c.1780. Designed to reduce the amount of incoming light to the eyes, this pair of Martin’s patent has rarely been used. All original with NO repairs, the horn inserts are perfect as are the lenses (for reading). All steel construction, the arms do not fold up or extend. All screws intact and never tightened. Original steel case/sleeve with secure hinge and flip top (small spots of surface rust). Simple construction and functionally cheap as they are not decorative, engraved or made of silver. Very plain but completely original. Hard to believe they could survive for 250 years in this condition.
