A fine Victorian enema/stomach pump with ivory appointments and all attachments included. The syringe is in bright brass with an ivory handle. The gag/anal stop appear to be made of exotic woods (lignum and ebony?). The fabric tube to the syringe/pump is double length with brass and gutta ends. Near flawless and signed ” Gardner, 46 South Bridge, Manchester” and the owner’s name on the mahogany case “J. Macfie”. Key included with functioning lock. Rarely if ever used. Blued steel leaf spring.
Minor flaws: somebody has forced the pump handle and fractured the arm-does NOT detract, small fracture to tubing-intact, scrape on lid (see photos). All in all, a fine set with rare ivory accessories-tips and handle. Case measures a large 12 x 6 x 2 1/2 inches.
